"Will you tell her the truth?
About me? About us? About you? About Him?
It's already too late for secrets."

ABOUT—
    Name: Kazavael

Appearance: A young 20-something appearing man with long, unkempt dark hair and dark skin. His eyes are an unremarkable shade of hazel. His body thin to the point of seeming underfed. The shadows under his eyes are near permanent.

Personality: A somewhat lazy and carefree individual whose only priority, it seems, is to stay alive. Begrudging work and effort, especially anything that puts him in the line of combat, he is more than happy to while his hours away in idleness. Surprisingly not given to ample chatter, he is satisfied with long periods of silence. As though he's other things on his mind.

DEMONS—
"It takes but 3 things for the birth of a demon. Knowledge, ambition and weakness. Weakness to drive us to the unthinkable. Ambition to do that which must be done. Knowledge to see it to success. And therein lies the death of the Church’s law- for all humanity has the means to turn to the thirst of demonkin.

That would be the story of my birth. Weak and insecure, seeking power and comfort, I committed the unspeakable. I consumed the souls of the fallen and then, with time, the living. I glutted myself until sated and when the hunger could no longer abate, I took until there was none left to give. I became starved. That was when the Church could no longer ignore me. But you know the tales, a demon slain is only reborn- the taint of the greedy soul uncleansed even in death. And so to prevent that, they succumbed themselves. To knowledge. To ambition. To weakness. To kill a demon, they brought forth a demon. One strong enough to sunder a soul in hopes of destroying it. Only you know they did not succeed. Could not succeed. Even split, I was reborn, two of one and history repeats.

What then, you must ask, of Heaven and Hell? Hell, home of the demons and to which all sinners are sent. Heaven to which the pure and righteous aspire to.

...But it’s easy to figure it out, once you give it some thought.

False. All of it. Neither Heaven nor Hell to welcome you in death. No holy spirit to protect you. God is but a guiding light to keep you on the path, faith a shield to the temptations of weakness. Hell to deter you from ambition and all of it to muddle knowledge. The Church seeks only to prevent the birth of demons in veiling you in the comfort of lies.

So no, you are not a demon yet. You have succumbed to knowledge. To ambition. But you have not fallen to weakness. To the fear that will drive you to avarice. And you may never fall... but you could. And you would be as me and we would be kin."

HISTORY—
Kazavael is two demons in one- the demon twins Kazavael and Alzaron. In a former life, the demon Azarael succumbed to greed and grew in power until they could no longer be sated. He became starved- a demon who knows nothing but hunger and will do anything to feed.

The Church, recognizing he was a threat that could no longer be ignored, did the only thing they could think to do- fight fire with fire. And in an effort to forestall the inevitable starved that would be born of a reincarnated Azarael, tried to splinter his soul (and therefore his power,) into pieces. Unfortunately, the attempt was only partially successful and resulted in halves.

Born with a bond transcending words, the twins became as one, if not physically than spiritually. Kazavael inherited the powers of might while Alzaron inherited the skills of magic. But an instability born of a torn soul is not to be ignored. What began as affection turned to obsession and an overwhelming desire to be by each other's side no matter the cost. But while Kazavael was content with "Together with you." Alzaron lived in fear of "Never without you."

As they grew older, at the height of his madness Alzaron deemed the only way to keep from being separated by death was to rejoin their souls... by consuming his twin. In fear Kazavael struck out and though the battle was short, the result was no less damning. A killing blow had been struck. Terrified at the prospect of carrying on alone, Kazavael did the only thing he could think to do and succumbed to his brother's madness by consuming his brother, flesh and soul alike.

What has resulted is a demon split in twain, joined by a single vessel. Though their abilities remain separate, they can be utilized by each respective twin. Because Kazavael is consciously carrying the soul of his brother and they remain spiritually unjoined, it has resulted in a desire to survive above all else. To keep himself and his brother alive at all costs- even if it should mean his dignity. So when Kazavael was discovered by Holy Knights Eir and Galder, he surrendered and accepted a binding mark- enslaving him to Galder's will- without question.
